Pietro had seen that statue in Scott's office. Few people knew it, but Pietro was a pretty good admirer of art. When your world moves fast, you have lots of time for hobbies.

But that statue... it didn't seem right just being hidden away on a desk. No, in fact, it looks like something that would be great at the bottom of the grand staircase... ornaments on the railings, you know the type.

Of course, it was something that while he could probably do well enough on his own, it was always good to share the blame fun.

Which was why Mike would be getting an e-mail in his inbox.

Subject: Do you like art?

Mike,

You know, we don't hang out that often. I was thinking that perhaps you'd enjoy this nice art exhibt that I've discovered. I think that you'll find the subject very revealing, and might get some inspiration.

PS - Did you ever get any fallout from Scott's credit cards when he and Emma were chibified? They haven't said a thing to me at all...

"Well, of course it's Emma," Mike says, confused, mostly because he wasn't really listening during any of that. "I'm pretty sure that goes without saying."

Mike pulls a face. "Ewww!"

"Er, not that there's anything wrong with you or anything, just, you know, I'm married and I'm pretty sure you're straight although I'm not trying to label you or anything but I'm just saying that um maybe I should stop talking yes that would be good."

Pietro glares at him for a moment, then shook his head laughing. "I'm also married too, you know. With a daughter. Though my wife is a backstabbing cheating..."

Mike is genuinely surprised at that. "You're still married to Crystal? I thought you guys broke up. On account of how she's, like, living on the moon."

"The term is estranged... but let's not go there. This... this is just completely unexceptable! We at least made sure that the statue had clothing on and there was no sex with Scott. She took it a step TOO far!"

"...so, basically, what you're saying is, we need to take our revenge?"

Yeah, this is going to end well.

"Do you want them to be the ones who end up on top?"

Oh no, not at all. But there's no fun in not trying, is there?

"...wow, my mind just went to really disturbing places." Ickface!

"Okay, but what? What? What could be the perfect retaliatory scheme? What?!"

"Or, failing that, I could just put the Imperial March theme from Star Wars into the heads of everybody in the mansion. Of course, that would annoy the heck out of all the other telepaths. Damn you, collateral damage!"

"I think we need to think about this. Let them think we're done, that nothing is wrong, and we've accepted this. And once everything is calm... then we spring it on them."

Pietro got this evil grin on him. "Or they will get paranoid waiting for us to do something, and that just drives them insane. We can talk in private, let Emma read thoughts about a big plan... but never do anything in actuality and let them fear when it will happen..."

"Ah! The old devious being innocent plan! And since we actually have a plan, even if it's a non-plan plan, we'll be thinking the truth!" Mike is seriously impressed by this idea. "You, sir, are a genius."

"We can start after the holidays... you know, every now and then just come and visit. We'll have secret 'talks' and just walk by Emma and Scott every now and then. You know they get suspicious when we're around. We just have to increase that."

Sudden big grin. "You know what we should do? Apologise to Scott for the X-Baby thing and pay his credit card bill. Nicely. Like, extremely nicely. With deference and respect and everything."

Nothing is more paranoia inducing then unexpected good will.

Pietro thinks for a moment. "We could, but that was an extremly large bill. Do you have the money for that?"

"Sure!" Mike considers this. "Probably. Well, I could get it. I suppose it wouldn't have to be that, though. But something equivalent, right? They'll never expect it."

"True. They never would. Let's go aquire that money, and then go give it to him. If we start now, we can get enough say," he did the math in his head, "by the second Tuesday in January?"

"Let me know when you're coming. Just because you never know what will happen around here. Something might come up and I'll forget."

"'course I will," Mike says, even though he's just as likely to completely forget. "No problem."
